Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD)
Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District serves Newark and the surrounding area through the organization of community initiatives and its cultural music festival. The annual festival features artists in a range of genres including—contemporary, traditional and emerging artists in indoor and outdoor venues. The free festival makes the performances accessible to all. The music program includes jazz, gospel, house and hip-hop. In addition, the annual skateboarding clinic, and a double-dutch clinic, basketball clinic and golfing clinic offer something for the entire family.
There will be plenty of food and merchandise vendors available including the sponsorship of Home Depot’s Green Vendor Marketplace—educating festival goers about environmentally friendly products. The organizers’ aim is for a carbon neutral festival through its Green initiatives. Beginning in 2008, steps will be taken to produce an environmentally friendly event. Festival goers are encouraged to reduce their carbon footprint by taking public transporation. Learn more about carbon footprints at http://www.terrapass.com. Train and bus schedules are available at http://www.njtransit.com.
