Festival Description | The Florida International University School of Music presents its annual music festival, featuring everything from chamber music to blues. Two weeks of world-class performances are centered around the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center on the University Park Campus in Miami. Highlights in the past included performances by Cubans Arturo Sandoval and Manuel Barrueco, Israel Kantor, the FIU Big Band and the FIU Faculty Jazz Quintet with the music of Beny Moré, organist Thomas Schuster and the FIU Orchestra with a salute to French composers Honegger, Charpentier and Poulenc and blues singer Kevin Mahogany. Graduates, undergraduates and faculty members from the university all featured, and there was a screening of the film Calle 54 with music by many Cuban greats. |
