Festival Description

The Skoda Jazz Festival, formerly known as the Audi Jazz Festival, is dedicated to the emerging jazz talents with performances in multiple venues — including Brussels, Ghent, Turnhout, Brugges and many more. The festival programming carries on the aim of its predecessor by featuring up-and-coming artists alongside legends who have made their mark on the jazz scene!

    • Guitarist & composer Mary Halvorson has been active in New York since 2002, following jazz studies at Wesleyan University and the New School. Critics have called Ms. Halvorson “NYC’s least-predictable improviser” (Howard Mandel, City Arts), “the most forward-thinking guitarist working right now” (Lars Gotrich, NPR.org) and “one of today’s most formidable bandleaders” (Francis Davis, Village Voice). Mary Halvorson and her longstanding trio, featuring bassist John Hébert and drummer Ches Smith, will play eight dates in Europe starting September 25th.The tour will pass through Germany, Poland, The Netherlands and Belgium before concluding at the historic Teatro Greco Romano in Catania, Italy on October 6th.

A one-of-a-kind spectacle featuring… PUPPETS: Be amazed by the brand new state-of-the-art robotic back up singer puppets! DANCING GIRLS: Be mesmerized by the sultry fan dances of kid koala’s dancing girls! MUSIC: Hear Kid Koala classics as well as new tracks from the 12 bit Blues being performed live by kid koala on 2 x SP1200s and 3 x turntables! ROBOTS: See the almost life size articulated Nufonia Must Fall and Space Cadet robots dance to the beat!
