Festival Description | The Guyana Musical Arts Festival began in 1952 and was held on an annual schedule until 1973. The festival, has been revived by a group of local of musicians who will once again bring the festival to life after its long absence featuring a competitive and music performance program. The program will include vocal solos and duets, spoken word; choral groups, including primary/secondary school choirs, church choirs, folk singing groups, gospel groups, and instrumentalists including recorder and steel pan, violin, guitar, and brass players. The opening events will take place at the National Cultural Centre, while the remainder of the festival will happen at the Bishop’s High School. |
