The first Velada Trova y Poesia took place in 2008 to celebrate and promote the cultural and artistic community of Quito. The cultural collective, Daquilema seeks to develop improved living conditions for the entire community of Quito. Trova y Poetia creates a democratic and pluralistic meeting space intended for a broad segment of the population for the means of an intercultural dialogue.

The festival is organized by Daquilema, in coordination with the Southern Cultural Network and also has the kind auspices of the Ministry of Culture of Ecuador, the Government of the Province of Pichincha, Illustrious Metropolitan District of Quito, the Ecuadorian Culture House and the South Neighborhood Association.

The 2009 festival takes place at El Teatro Prometeo La Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana from 6:00pm 18h00. The organizers seek the artistic contribution of poets, musicians and dancers and others in the field of the arts.
