Festival Story:
The purpose of the project is to revive the early music scene in Slovenia, and to encourage the performance of Slovene composers of past centuries by internationally recognised artists. The program spans the Middle Ages through the beginning of the 20th Century, and performs authentic early music concerts and presents various shades of music styles from various European countries across the centuries—from the Renaissance to the Romantic era. The concerts take place at more than 30 historical venues, including castles and churches, that are important examples of Slovenia’s architectural and cultural heritage. The Slovene national broadcasting company Radio Slovenija has recorded all of the project’s central concerts since 1997. It also provides recordings of these concerts for exchange through the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Festival Events:
Piano Competition 2012:
- Seviqc Brežice Chopin Golden Ring
The International Competition in the category of Laureate concert of historical piano
October 30, 2012, 20:30 (8:30pm)
Venue — Ptuj Castle, in Ptuj, Slovenia
- The Competition For Young Pianists was founded in 2005 on the initiative of musicians, teachers and amateurs of Chopin’s music, with the encouragement of music friends from Poland. Frédéric Chopin’s compositions are on the list of favourite music pieces of every pianist. They are a compulsory part of the study programme at music schools and academies of music. With Chopin’s works, the young musician enters the sphere of Romantic music, and is thus confronted with the demanding technical and musical elements of piano playing. The complete works of Frédéric Chopin – including his miniature scores – require not only technical skills, virtuoso playing and crystal clear articulation but also a distinct sense of musicality and an ability to detect the most subtle dynamic nuances, combined with a highly cultured tone with which the artist interprets the music of the piano poet Chopin, and thus adds his or her own artistic touch to Chopin’s composition.
