Festival Description | The Montreux Jazz Festival was invited to Singapore’s first Mosaic Music Festival in March 2005. This colourful festival played host to internationally famous jazz and world music artists over 10 days at the Singaporean cultural centre, The Esplanade. The presence of the Montreux Jazz Festival in Singapore involved a series of events and, notably, the setting up of a Montreux Jazz Club in the intimate setting of the Singaporean cultural centre’s Esplanade Theatre Studio. The concerts and jam sessions organised on this stage were shown on a giant screen on the centre’s terrace, which served as an extension of the Theatre Studio. Archives of Montreux Jazz Festival concerts were also screened there. Music, a sublime view of the bay of Singapore, beautiful weather—all the necessary ingredients ensure that the evening goes on until the early hours of the morning in an atmosphere remarkably reminiscent of…Montreux. |
