Festival Description | “Stamsund International Theatrefestival is one of the largest performing arts festivals in Norway. The festival takes place in a small fishing village in the Lofoten Islands in the North of Norway, that for a few days becomes a showcase for renowned performances from all over the world. In addition to a few traditional theatre scenes, we develop factoryspaces from the fishing industry as venues for the performances, as well as making use of the village’s streets, squares and mountains. The venues are taylored to suit the specific productions presented there. We try to inspire the artists to work in dialogue with the place. Stamsund International Theatrefestival presents around 40 performances each year, and draws a mixed audience - artists from all over Europe joining the local audience. The festival is also a networking arena for Norwegian contemporary theatre, many Norwegian producers and groups are represented. |
