The purpose of the Osa festival is to provide for a meeting between folk music and classical music through seminars and concerts. Recitals and seminars are held and every year a composer is commissioned to create a composition inspired by the theme of the years festival. The festival was initiated by the Ole Bull Academy and is part of that institution’s continued effort to promote Norwegian folk music. Today the festival is arranged in partnership with the Voss Folk Musicians’ Team, the local Symphony Orchestra and Voss Folk Dance Team.
