The first concert took place in 1983 and since that time the festival has thrived on its own philosophy — not being restrictive, but open-minded to all forms of musical expression. Besides its classical program each year a jazz and song repertoire are included, with the participation of performers of international renown and talented local artists. The aim of the festival is to encourage affinities between classical and amplified music, and above all jazz. The purpose is to abolish any obsolete segregation of the so-called “serious” music from the “light” music.
