The International Christopher Summer Festival takes place in the City of Vilnius and has presented hundreds of concerts featuring eminent performers from Vilnius, Lithuania, and abroad. The rich and diverse program includes musical genres such as operas, oratorios, organ, jazz and chamber music. The festival continues to make further advances, to create new and original program, and to enjoy the attention of music lovers, both local and foreign.

In 1995, the artistic director of the Vilnius City Municipality Christopher Chamber Orchestra, viola player, and organiser of musical life, professor Donatas Katkus had the idea of organizing the music and arts festival. The conception of the festival was to be original—in that the events, music and theatre premieres, exceptional projects and performances would be executed in the unique surroundings of Vilnius’ architecture and in the unique courtyards and churches of the Old Town so that it would be especially interesting for both visitors and residents of Vilnius.
