Szolnoki Zenei Fesztivál
The Szolnok Music Festival was organised for the first time in the spring of 1993. The Ferenc Liszt Chamber Orchestra, the festival’s host, has provided professional assistance since 1994. Guest musicians include many celebrated artists who have played in the world’s most famous concert halls. A few of those who have performed in the city are: Kobayashi Ken-Ichiro and the Hungarian State Orchestra, the Budapest Festival Orchestra, maestros András Ligeti and Helmuth Rilling, Yvette Bozsik and Company, the East European Dance Theatre, the Gyôr Ballet, and also artists such as Dezsô Ránki, Maurice André, Isaac Stern, Zoltán Kocsis, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Miklós Perényi, Veronika Kincses, Andrea Rost, György Vukán, György Pauk, and Tamás Vásáry. By establishing excellent musical productions, the organisers hope to give Szolnok a reputation throughout the country as the City of Music.
