Festival Description | The European Convivial Wine Song Festival held in Pécs, Hungary, an attractive old university town with a special Mediterranean atmosphere, has been hosting a unique festival for male choruses, vocal ensembles and soloists every year since 1993. Participating choirs prepare a 10-15 minutes gala programme, focusing on convivial wine songs, to introduce their national musical traditions connected with viniculture, grapes and wine. This programme includes both folklore-based and original compositions as well as arrangements. The capacity for the festival is around two hundred singers. Beside presenting their own, national programme, participants also join in the Festival Chorus, performing the most well-known convivial wine songs and arrangements from several historical eras. |
