Festival Events:

Confirmed artists 2010:
  • Great Lake Swimmers will headline the ‘Hot Ticket’ event at Centre for the Arts, Brock University on April 23, 2010.
  • Three of the jury’s top festival picks will have the opportunity to share the stage with Wainfleet native Tony Dekker and his acclaimed band. Their latest album Lost Channels (2009) was nominated for a prestigious Polaris Prize and has landed on countless Best of 2009 lists around the world.
Programming 2010:
  • Thursday, April 22
    • Strega Café: Jazz, country, indie folk, 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Kerri Michalica (from St. Catharines) Aboriginal Indie artist Shawnee Lynn Talbot, and those two small town girls The Sweet Peas with their own brand of country folk, plus jazz from the ladies from Thorold, L-A Tunes.
    • The Mansion House: Indie rock, psychedelic, garage rock, 8.30pm – 12.30am.
Check out Fenwick locals Northern Primitive, indie rock from Atom Division, hometown favourites and Brock’s 2009 Band of the Year Elk, the supersonic psychedelic Hoas Hoas, plus Old World Vulture, the four-piece instrumental rock locals, now based in Toronto.
  • Friday, April 23
    • Centre for the Performing Arts: Wild oats and blue grass, 7:30pm.
Great Lake Swimmers headline a stellar night at Brock’s Centre for the Arts, with Jesse T. Reid, The High Wire String Band, and an outrageously spectacular event with Climbing Vines, an aerial act of pure beauty and labour — like the vines of Niagara’s grapes.
  • Saturday, April 24
    • The Mikado: hybrids of folk, rock hip hop and legends, 8:00pm – 12:00am.
IN THE SOIL’s final night and the soil gets well and truly turned. The Mikado hosts Fred Speck’s Camp Combo — the darkly ‘gleeful’ crazy quartet playing their mixture of jazz, swing, surf or polkas. Not to be missed are Niagara Falls local folk rock sensation, The Black Flies, (Niagara Music Awards 2009 Group of the Year), followed by The KaC Himself, fellow Niagara Falls native with his fast-paced comedic hip hop originals. Rounding out the night are Jake & Jack, St. Catharines local phenomena, and legendary locals, The Overfiend.
