Festival Story:
Since 1957, it has been the most important cultural event of the city and one of the most important of Greece. It takes place in the ancient theater during the high season with ancient and modern performances, ballets and concerts by theatrical troupes, orchestras and bands of international fame. The Festival's events take place at the Ancient Theatre of Filippoi. Its construction dates back in 357 B.C. The first restoration work of the Theatre began in 1957 by Dimitris Lazaridis. The purpose was to make the monument the place where the events of the Festival of Filippoi would take place. The contemporary visitor sees the theatre as it used to be in Roman Times.Start or join a conversation about this festival in the Forum.
