NoPassport Interview: Stacie Chaiken

Stacie ChaikenStacie Chaiken is a writer/performer. She is the founder and artistic director of “What’s the Story?”, a Los Angeles-based workshop for artists wrestling with personal story for the stage and the page. Her own solo play Looking for Louie has toured widely. Her new solo play, The Dig: Death, Genesis & the Double Helix, a commission from the Center for Jewish Culture & Creativity and the Memorial Council for Jewish Culture, will be presented in New York this June as part of the Festival of Jewish Thought and Ideas. She has been on the Performance Faculty of the University of Southern California School of Theatre since 2001. She is a Fulbright Senior Specialist in the field of Performance and Story, has taught writers and performers at Tel Aviv and Bar Ilan Universities, and is currently teaching rabbinic students about personal story, as Artist-in-Residence at Hebrew Union College. For her own work, Chaiken has received awards and/or funding from Hebrew Union College; the Durfee Foundation; Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs; California Arts Council; USC Arts Initiative; and the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture.
