SANS TEMPS in Montreal

Sans Temps Montreal based SANS TEMPS, founded by Marie-Soleil Pilette merges traditional ‘quebecois’ step dancing with contemporary dance. You can see two works this weekend- ‘Chaises’ and Zone Gigue’ in Montreal at Piscine-Theatre on June 1st and at Le Conseil des Arts de Montreal on June 2nd.

Butterfly at Windy City Rhythms

Roxane Butterfly Roxane Butterfly has been called one of the most innovative tap-dancers of her generation, having received a Bessie Award and a fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation. May 25th is National Tap Day in the United States, and Roxane Butterfly will be a guest performer at Windy City Rhythms in Chicago from May 24th- 26th.

Lionel Loueke at the London African Music Festival

Loueke Benin-born Lionel Loueke combines West African sounds with jazz improvisation. He is guitarist for Herbie Hancock and has recorded CDs with Terence Blanchard, but makes his debut as a band leader at the London African Music Festival at the Southbank Centre on May 19th.

Fabienne Berger premieres new work.

Fabienne Fabienne Berger, the Swiss choreographer and dancer will premiere her new solo work- ‘Elle’ on May 10th at the Nuithonie in Fribourg, Switzerland. She will also be performing this work at the Festival de la Cite Lausanne this July.

Haale at Joe’s Pub

Haale Haale first brought her mix of American rock and Persian poetry to fans around 1997. Since then she has gained wider exposure as a rising star in world music. Haale will be performing at Joe’s Pub in New York City on May 4th, and you can also see her in June at the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee.
