Dar Williams and the American Beauty Project

Dar WilliamsDar Williams, the singer/songwriter has played at many festivals, most recently at the Ottawa Folk Festival this past August. She is participating in the American Beauty Project, to honor the Grateful Dead’s two 1970s albums — American Beauty and Workingman’s Dead. Dar Williams will perform her own arrangements of songs from these albums at the World Financial Center Winter Garden in New York City on January 20th and 21st.

“My picture vanished”

Nikolai Nikolai Schetnev is a dancer and choreographer based in Arkhangelsk, Russia. He is the founder of the TOUCH International Festival of Contemporary Dance, and is known as a master teacher in contact improvisation, a dance form based on the physical principles of touch, momentum and points of contact to improvise movement. Nikolai has appeared at the Tanec Praha Festival, the Berlin International Dance Festival and the DC International Improvisation Plus+ Festival. His piece- “My picture vanished” will be performed at Tanzhaus in Dusseldorf, Germany February 9th and 10th.

Parallel Exit

Parallel Exit With backgrounds in dance, mime, circus, and acrobatics, Parallel Exit creates wordless physical theatre in which characters, emotions, and narrative are communicated entirely through the performers’ bodies. Parallel exit has performed at the COS Festival in Spain, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in the U.S. and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They will be at Martin Luther College in Minnesota, U.S.A on January 17th. 2007.

Pharaoh’s Daughter brings in Holiday Season

Pharaoh daughterThe band Pharaoh’s Daughter blends Hasidic chants with Sephardic folk-rock and a splash of electronica. They have performed at the London Biennial Jewish Music Festival, the Yiddish Music Festival, and this month they will be playing at the New York Sephardic Music Festival, which takes place from December 16th through the 24th. Also, don’t miss their performance at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in North Adams, Massachusetts on December 8th.
